Criminey! Tired of looking online for stuff to buy. I mean, seriously. Why can't people just offer the best prices for auto accessories, computer stuff, and video games without me having to scour the planet? It's annoying! I used to love the hunt for the deal. Now, it is becoming a chore. Maybe I won't feel so much like this after the holidays. Holiday shopping always drives me bonkers....
I have a dream... that I can one day buy my mother a solid, new or like new computer that will actually work. It will let her get online whenever she chooses and do whatever she needs to do on her own time. I am so tired of her fighting with ancient desktops that I'm ready to pull my hair out. If only I could afford it, she would have a brand spanking new laptop with a 3 year service agreement. As it stands, she is computer-less. I hate it! I don't get any emails from her, she can't see pictures and videos of her grandchild, or whatever I have taken pictures of and posted. She can't read any blogs, surf facebook, or play around on myspace. UGH UGH UGH!! >_____< One day, mom. My prayer is that I will be able to take you to a store and just let you pick whatever you want, no worries about what it is or how much it costs.
We have about six more presents to order, all from the same place online. HOPEFULLY they will all get here by Christmas. I am still waiting for the Obama coin I got for my dad. I also happened to find a present I lost that was supposed to be his from a few years back. Never too late to give LOL!
I think I finally finished shopping for my son. I was able to take a glance through some personalized books and figure out what I wanted to get from them. He loves to have his name included in things, and this is the perfect way to do it. They have books, coloring books, puzzles, and a lot more. He will be extremely surprised to find that we were able to get him something that is all about him. I mean, he knows that we buy his presents with him in mind, obviously, but there is nothing like a personalized item with that child's name featured as the name of the main character.
We have the personalized coloring books. His name is on the front cover as well as being interspersed into the story lines. He adores cars and mechanical things, so Rev It Up is going to hit home with him right away. The Friendly Monster story will also be a favorite for him, since he doesn't like monsters that aren't friendly... but then, who does? LOL He is going to have such a special Christmas. These books will probably be coming with us to grandmom's house. They even come with portable crayons, so I don't have to bring his full box from our house. Good on you Frecklebox. I will definitely be coming back for more. I am considering getting some of his party supplies from them, too. His birthday is coming up very shortly. This type of product would surely make his birthday one to remember!
Sometimes you don't want to buy online. Sometimes you just want to be in the store yourself so you can make your own directbuy. Yesterday I went on a small shopping excursion on which I spent no more than $5 and change. How? With coupons and gift cards of course!!!
I got Dream Angels Desire lotion by VS for free and 8 things from B&B:
- Sweet Pea Anti-Bacterial Hand Lotion & Shower Gel
- Sensual Amber Shower Gel
- Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Lotion & Antibacterial hand foam
- Shea it isn't so foot cream
- Im in the mood for scrub foaming body buffer
- Cucumber Melon antibacterial foam
And I still have a bit under $5 left on my gift card.
Gotta love shopping!
We still have to buy a few late Christmas presents for some of our relatives. I guess it's jut a matter of finding the best buy we can. One of the things we are trying to get is a good digital frame for my sister in law. It's one of the few things she asked for on Christmas. Since we did Pollyanna, this is our responsibility to get. I hope we can find a good one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg soon. I have seen some nice ones but they are expensive!
My husband is always talking about us buying a flat screen television. My thing is : where are we going to put it? I was looking around the net for solutions and found a bunch of interesting tv lift cabinets that can be used as storage, as well. These ones have a remote control that will bring the tv out of the cabinet for watching, and store it when you are not. That is neat on more than one level. For instance, burglars are less likely to guess you have an awesomely expensive television stored in a cabinet full of books!
I have been on a discount shopping spree of sorts lately. My spare change has been going to the library and buying movies, books, cds... while my extra piddling money goes on to buy discount books online. I got a book for a penny, one for 90 cents...am eying one that is 92 cents. The shipping is like $4 but think about it. The book costs no more than 4 or 5 dollars total online whereas buying other places online or in real life, I would be paying at least twice that. At the library yesterday I bought Carousel the musical on VHS for a dollar and Madame Butterfly soundtrack on 2 cds for 2 dollars brand new. I have been buying second hand yarn from people online for a fraction of the price of the store as well as shopping the dollar store for normally expensive novelty yarns. I am making a killing in savings on what I would be spending, and making it easier to spend just as much as I would be on the normal but with two to three times the volume in return. It's pretty awesome.
Here are some of the things on my near future to buy list:
- Fiber for my spindle
- truck accessories to pimp my ride
- Speakers for the other car
- A 2.2 oz spindle
- The rest of the yarn I need to make my 3rd sweater in my sweater series
- More circular needles
- Another lamp for the desk in the living room
- More DPNs (double pointed needles)
- A better solution to organize my bedroom
- New sheets, comforter, and pillows for us and the kid
- Membership to the YMCA right down the road
Okay that's just off the top of my head. I know there is more.
Which are your favorite sites for shopping online?
