My son is in the living room right now getting his dose of classic musical culture. We are watching Silk Stockings from 1957:
I dont care what anyone says, that movie is crazy and just GOOD. Unpredictable, except for the love interest. Nothing could have prepared me and hubby for the movie excellence that ensued. Smith was amazing in his role as Mr. Thomas. Great film. I highly recommend this one to all *not children, tho...it's a bit much for them*.
It started out slow, and I thought it might end up being Karate Kid 2.0...but it didn't. Holy mackerel. This was a great movie. The fighting, the plot, the premise, the moral, the ending. Superb. I adored the cinematography. My son was the one to suggest we go to the movies as a family. I wanted to go bowling. Since the Man's thumb is still jammed, that was a no go. We all took the scenic route to the movie complex, but had a great time. I highly recommend this movie to anyone into Kung Fu or martial arts of any kind. Jackie and Jet were awesome. It was just a great movie all around...
It does lose points for the B word and a few other issues I had with language. I didn't know that PG 13 movies were allowed to say that, but then times have changed since I had to care what a PG 13 movie entailed. Just a warning for anyone with smaller kids. My son didn't catch it, as he was too interested in the action, but my husband and I did.
What do you think about the initiative to put closed captioning in movie theaters? Personally, I think it's awesome, but I also think they should have some way of doing it so everyone in the theater doesn't have to read the dialog. I wonder how they would do that, though. Maybe they would just have special showing for the hearing impaired to come and enjoy the theater.
What movie did you expect would be terrible, but was actually really good?
The Number 23 was a huge surprise. I had no idea it would be THAT good. It was eerie and enthralling all at the same time. Jim Carrey is such a versatile actor. I love how he can do comedy, then do a serious movie a few months later. His role in this movie was amazing.
Okay so my husband spoils me. I even have a cute shirt that my son picked out at the age of 2 that says so LOL
This weekend we went shopping at the mall and we found this:
I thought I would take time this morning while getting ready to watch my favorite movie. I DVR'd it the other day so I could have a sit down and watch when the kid wasn't running about. The dog is at the kennel and my son is asleep. I get to watch :
If anyone feels so compelled, I would love to have this movie in my physical collection. You know, I usually would feel bad about asking but today I don't. I went to bed with a migraine, woke up with a hint of it. I can feel it coming back now. I have less than an hour before I have to go 2 1/2 hours up to the Poconos for the barbecue with my husband's dad's family. I am feeling all kinds of BLEH. So anyway, I am going to go sulk for a while and try to laugh at my favorite movie and forget about everyone's opinion but mine.
