Yes and everyone will be eating their way through another holiday season. I guess the few weeks after Christmas, when everyone is making their resolutions to slim down, is when you get the highest hits on websites featuring diet tricks and fat burner reviews. I won't be eating my weight in fixins this year, if I can help it. I know my mom is making a turkey and some other things. We will be spending our full Christmas away this year. First, hitting up my mom's for all of Christmas Eve, then off to my in laws to sleep till the next day when we will hang with them all day. That night, it's off to the Christmas party at the sister in law's and back home to finish our Christmas here. I am so happy the man can be here for this season! It's so truly awesome.
We have about six more presents to order, all from the same place online. HOPEFULLY they will all get here by Christmas. I am still waiting for the Obama coin I got for my dad. I also happened to find a present I lost that was supposed to be his from a few years back. Never too late to give LOL!
I think I finally finished shopping for my son. I was able to take a glance through some personalized books and figure out what I wanted to get from them. He loves to have his name included in things, and this is the perfect way to do it. They have books, coloring books, puzzles, and a lot more. He will be extremely surprised to find that we were able to get him something that is all about him. I mean, he knows that we buy his presents with him in mind, obviously, but there is nothing like a personalized item with that child's name featured as the name of the main character.
We have the personalized coloring books. His name is on the front cover as well as being interspersed into the story lines. He adores cars and mechanical things, so Rev It Up is going to hit home with him right away. The Friendly Monster story will also be a favorite for him, since he doesn't like monsters that aren't friendly... but then, who does? LOL He is going to have such a special Christmas. These books will probably be coming with us to grandmom's house. They even come with portable crayons, so I don't have to bring his full box from our house. Good on you Frecklebox. I will definitely be coming back for more. I am considering getting some of his party supplies from them, too. His birthday is coming up very shortly. This type of product would surely make his birthday one to remember!
Well we made it to Christmas. Merry Christmas. Last night I was the proud recipient of some fine lingerie from my mother which is a tradition with us. On Christmas Eve every year she would give each of her daughters pajamas to wear to bed that night. Sometimes they were homemade and sometimes not. She continued the tradition at my holiday party last night. My mother gave me what I call "married lady pjs" HEHE. Red and satin, very pretty. And so in the spirit of today I say:
My friend Laura is making custom Christmas cards. They are all for sale. If you are into doing the custom thing, check her out. There is no greater joy than when you can support a fellow blogger in their creative efforts *grins @ RPM*. Believe me, you will be getting some AWESOME designs from a wonderful mother of two sets of twins and a tween. She finds time in between taking care of all her children to do all these breathtaking designs. I don't know how she does it, but let's support her in her efforts! Here is a sample of her work:
and all of the people with nothing to do, nothing to prove. It's just you and me and all of the people and I don't know why I can't take my eyes off of you... (You and Me by Lifehouse)
*sigh* Sorry, I'm in a romantical mood (yes I said ROMANTICAL). There is a certain magic of love that comes with the Christmas season. Being that it is a celebration of God loving us so much that He gave His only son that we may live eternally, I guess it just comes naturally. This season of love begins with Thanksgiving. Now let's look at this from a biblical standpoint real quick.
God always tells us to enter into His gates with thanksgiving. The word thanksgiving shows up in the Bible in every passage of praise. It is no surprise to me that thanksgiving opens the season of love and praising God for His sacrifice. Sure thanksgiving the holiday came many many years after Jesus, but the feeling of thanksgiving runs throughout the course of history. We should be giving thanks every day. We should be praising. We should be open to receive the gift of the Son into our hearts and our lives.
So when I think about this season with all its gift giving and the sweethearts giving their sweethearts romantic christmas gifts, I also think of the most "romantic" gift of all: Jesus Christ our Lord.
If I could get anything, I would get him Giants tickets. They don't even have to be for a full season. I bet that he would have to break out in his winsome smile and try to stifle his joy. I have big things on my mind to get him. He is such a good husband and a hard worker. He deserves something that is just for him, that he can do that will make him sublimely happy. *crosses fingers* Here's hoping I can get him at least ONE thing this season that will do just that.
*growls at internet connection*
I have caught myself making mental notes about Christmas, Thanksgiving, and my son's birthday. The thing that gets me is the resolve "oh I will just ask for that for Christmas". Apparently, most of it is about my needs, not my wants. What do I need to buy now. What can I wait to have someone else buy me later? It's mostly for the kid, though. I am already telling people that he needs clothes that fit him for winter as buying them myself seems a costly task. Hey, if they are going to buy them, why should I? My christmas gift ideas for other people is lacking this year. I know of only two presents that I can give for Christmas that will be greatly appreciated and well loved. The others, I am still up in the air about. I have time, but it grows short. Heck, we just started September and many celebrated the kids going back to school. Now here we are and the end of September is breathing down our necks. Amazing how the time flies.
One man helping other men to not screw up presents. This author decides to post about the top five phones for girls. He elaborates on the features of each phone...and surprise! They aren't all pink. I think he did a pretty good job deciding what to include on his list. Go check it out and see for yourself.
I made an angel for the top of my tree! I posted all the pictures on flickr...
I also have some of the tree now that it is finished, but I will save those for later *tomorrow* lol
My son and I decorated it together tonight. He did a great job of choosing the right places to put the ornaments. We only have 3 actual figurines and the rest is all gold balls, the gold garland with stars in it, and the white mini lights.
